The keystone is still there...
But for how long?
This afternoon was sunny and Richard and I returned to a local riverside walk that we regularly did with Betty, our lovely lurcher. Since we had to have her put to sleep a few weeks ago, we haven't been back.
We were in the Rivelin Valley, where there used to be a lot of metalworking industry in the days of water power. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Rivelin
It was good today: sunshine was filtering through the yellowing leaves, there were a few other walkers out, all of us giving each other a smile and a wide berth on the paths. The Covid news is having an impact: people are definitely being more watchful again, after the more relaxed times during the summer.
I noticed Richard admiring some of the passing dogs. He is adamant that 'there won't be another dog', now that we have had to say goodbye to two during our 25 years together (both in ripe old age). But I'm not convinced. Time will tell.
Otherwise: I've been more tired than usual, over the last couple of days, so of course I'm on the alert for anything else that could be a Covid symptom. Frieda, meanwhile, is surviving her self-isolation in good spirits. Jack and Marianna have both negotiated to take a little time off, so they can take turns in covering the days that would have been spent with us or in nursery.
