Turmeric Flower

I was so surprised and excited to see this flower growing in my garden! At first I thought it was the ginger plant that had flowered but after researching it on the internet I found out it was actually the turmeric plant. I had planted them side by side and got them mixed up. It’s quite difficult to get them to flower here, so I was not expecting this!
All I did was kept adding my homemade compost to the ground around the plants. They are “heavy feeders” apparently, so they must be quite happy with my coffee ground rich compost.
I grew these from turmeric root purchased in the supermarket!
