Trencherfield Mill

Built in 1907, one of Wigan’s grandest cotton mills is now a collection of luxury flats, a concert venue and a working heritage mill with its giant wheel still turning. It is alongside the Leeds/Liverpool canal at the Wigan Pier basin where barges would load and unload easily.
We popped out for an hour, and it’s always a pleasure to park here and browse the area, whatever the weather.
The metal machinery and makers stamp is a huge steam hammer used in a local forge, now on display here, and in good nick for nearly 160 years of age!
