Cordyline australis, commonly known as the cabbage tree, is a widely branched monocot tree endemic to New Zealand.The common name is attributed by some sources to early settlers having used the young leaves as a substitute for cabbage. It's an iconic tree in New Zealand, and grows widely from Northland down to nearly the bottom of the South Island
