The Norfolk Broads
is an area of linked waterways along which holidaymakers can wander in their motor launches. Water levels used to be regulated by a system of wind driven mills which remain in place and are interesting features of the landscape. The disused mills are also interesting subjects for photography.
This one is known as Boardman's Mill and was erected in 1897 and scooped up water from nearby marshy areas and transferred it to the waterway. These days modern turbine pumps do the job. The Norfolk Windmills Trust looks after these old mills.
