Apples Branching Out

Apples growing on a tree,
the higher up, the more they see.
Apple tree in coastal Devon
views, from higher branches, heaven.

Apples freckled - marks of brown:
diseased dull jewels on faded crown.
Apples growing on this tree
cannot fill anyone with glee.

Apples looking sadly sick
suggest they're not too good to pick.
Apples, hanging on their branches,
know, with wind, come avalanches

but these apples quite agree,
before they fall, it's good to see
apple views of coastal Devon;
through decay, a glimpse of heaven.

Taken before the rain (and not in our garden), which is set in for the day.

I get used to seeing the same birds in our garden every day, but this morning, in the space of a few seconds, I spotted a coal tit, closely followed by a woodpecker. Both species have visited before, but neither for a long time, so it was good to see them.
