Everything That Happens Will Happen Today
David Byrne walks onto the stage at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to applause that most artists in any other town walk off to. The band looked shocked and surprised, but then again David has just come home. The applause dies down and David tells us "There are four people down here. They are professional photographers. The rest of you are amateurs, that doesn't mean you can't use your cameras, your phones, videos and anything else I don't know has been invented yet. Have fun" Well fair enough David, if you insist.
Concert itself was utterly amazing for this old Talking Heads fan. They played most of the new album, a track of "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts" and then a heap of stuff from the Brain Eno era Talking Heads; I Zimbra, Houses In Motion, Heaven, Crosseyed and Painless, Once In A Lifetime, The Great Curve, Life During Wartime, Air, Take Me To The River and Burning Down The House. Couldn't have asked for much more.
Band were excellent musicians, three excellent backing singers and three excellent dancers. The whole ensemble looked like they were having a blast which always translates itself to the audience. A gig that slips comfortably into Andy's top 10 gigs ever.
Nice to have you back home David Byrne.
Check out his website, he's quite a photographer and have a listen to "Everything That Happens will Happen Today", worth a wee bit of your time.
