More home grown produce

This is our first lot of Jeruslame Artickokes this year. 
My sort of vegetable. I planted thme ten years ago nad every year up they come and we harvest them. I do nothing and next year they are back again. It is a shmae that they aren't the most interesting of vegetables to eat!
The French word  for themis much better, Topinambour, although the etymology is curious. Apparently this is the name of the tribe in Brazil, a few members of which were brought back to Europe as ''curiosities' in the 16th century, the same time as which people started eating the vegetable. 
Not very enlightened times perhaps.....
