Lenham Cross

Built as a war memorial in 1922 to commemorate 42 men from the village who did not return from the First World War. It was filled in between 1949 and 1945 so that it couldn't be used as a navigation aid by enemy bombers. It now commemorates those who died in both world wars; a further 14 names were added. The stones with the names of the fallen were moved from the foot of the cross to the church as family mourners became older and too infirm to climb the hill. It is 200 feet high and 69 feet wide.
