Bible Bottom
Early morning walk with the spaniel over the Lewes Downs before it clouded over. This is where the steep sided slopes of Oxteddle Bottom and Bible Bottom meet. The 'Bible' is a medieval stock enclosure just off to the left. It is rectangular in shape with rounded corners resembling an open book traditionally known as the 'The Devil's Book' and more recently as 'The Bible'. Behind the trees lies a very large 'dew pond' still used to provide water for sheep and cattle.
