Twin towers
These are often called the twin towers of Brighouse.
Formally the silos of Sugden's Flour Mill.
The mill was founded in 1829.
Burnt down in 1895, and replaced.
The first silo was built in 1959, and the second in 1963.
It lies on the banks of the Calder and Hebble Navigation.
Closed in 1997 it became derelict. There were plans to demolish it and build houses, but after considerable renovation ( £500K) it is now ROKT climbing gym.
It has the highest and biggest climbing wall in the UK.
I'm so glad they didn't pull them down, as it just wouldn't be the same, driving down into Brighouse without them on the skyline.
The wall along the tow path, on the right of the photo, is the back of Sainsbury's supermarket (which is where I was shopping)
Brighouse is a nice little unspoilt town. No big chains of shops like M&S, although it has an M&Co.
Must go more often in future.
Thankyou for your concern for MrC he is getting better........my cold is getting worse!
The weather today has been much better. Mainly sunny, and warmer 9C!
Hope it stays for the weekend, and next week's half term holls.
