Mind Game

On first glance the image looks the wrong way up, or perhaps on its side, but in fact the orientation is correct. The confusion lies in the reflection, the reeds are so dark, the water line cannot easily be discerned. Added to which the golden light on the water is even top to bottom giving no clue as to which plane it sits in.

My two challenges were: whether to crop the frame to change the proportion of light and dark; and by how much I could raise the shadow detail without affecting the illusion.
