One o'clock

One hour after midnight, time to go to bed. As usual I guided the dog around the house (he should not take the stairs). And then I saw this little, beautiful animal. A fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) in our garden!
I'd never seen one before, they are not common where I grew up, up north in the Netherlands. So now we have to watch our steps even more carefully, toads and salamanders and mice and and and.
