Marble Arch
Marble Arch was erected in 1827 and only members of the Royal Family and The Kings Troop are allowed to pass through.
It is situated near the Tyburn Gallows or Tyburn Tree where public hangings took place from 1388 to 1793.
Apparently Oliver Cromwell was hung there although already dead his body was disinterred and suspended from the tree for his part in the beheading of King Charles I.
I love the history of London
