La vendemmia
The grape harvest. All 6kg from one vine. Hand squashed and separated from the stalks to experiment with a little wine. There’s an extra. You can go commando on wine with as little intervention as possible - wild yeast, no sugar, no secondary fermentation. Or you can take a more science lab approach. I’m sure both have their merits.
Later sorted through the tomatoes, cutting out the dead and dying vines, stripping back leaves, hoping for a late burst for salads and sauces. More walnuts to collect as the wind continued. Squash to round up. Weeds to pull and compost to be turned.
The walnut leaves colouring up and splendid in the sun.
The jet stream, like an arrow poised, threatening to bring more Atlantic mayhem to us later in the week.
