Close Earth Flyby of Near Earth Object 2012DA14
Asteroid 2012DA14 is expected to pass by Earth within 17,200 miles of the surface of our planet later today.
As if to underline our vulnerability to cosmic space debris (just ask the dinosaurs - oh, of course, you can't), by happenstance, this event brought a rude awakening to the city of Chelyabinsk in the Urals.
This is an image I have recorded earlier today in commemoration of this Near Miss.
It was inspired by this One Tweet Recipe from Jamie Oliver.
Instead of whisky, I chose to use Armageddon Amaretto to flavour these End of the World Pancakes.
And yummy they were too...
