my place in the sun

We have had some cracking days so far in October (with the odd rainy day, I admit) and when the sun shines in the morning, this is where you'll find me, soaking up the rays. 

I bought this bench for D's birthday about 20 years ago and it has been a well-used present. From March until November, it's out in front of the house, looking out onto the garden. Like the house, it faces east, so morning is the best time to sit there, before the shadow of the house creeps over it. It has been host to many friends and family over the years and at  2m long, is useful for socially distanced visits in good weather.

Today is my dad's 88th birthday and although our plans for him to celebrate in Scotland have been scuppered, we were able to spend an hour together on FaceTime, and I saw him opening his cards :-)
