Red October
The frost of last week and the recent heavy rain seems to have accelerated the onset of autumn. It will not be long before the red leaves of the rowan tree all fall to the ground to join the few which are already there. It looks like a colourful month ahead.
The achievement of the day was completing the make over of a piece of the garden which had been completely taken over by self-seeding aquilegia, thalictrum and others of its like. While I enjoyed the wilderness they were creating, other plants were suffering and I decided to intervene. And four days later, I am pleased with the result so far. The months and Years ahead will determine whether further intervention is necessary. I know that now.
