Tomatoes
Yet another wet day. We had poached eggs for breakfast (usually our Sunday treat) because I will be out of the house too early tomorrow morning. Then I spent some time on the exercise bike.
In the afternoon, I spent did some fluting, whilst W stripped the tomatoes in the polytunnel. The ones on the right here were picked a few days ago, and we've already eaten quite a number. I think most of the rest will be cooked up with garlic and basil, and then into the freezer.
The ones in the big green container were what was left on the plants. No doubt some of them will ripen over the next few weeks. Our previous attempts to make green tomato chutney were not a huge success - W tells me that the chunks were too big for his preference - I'm not really a chutney person.
In the early evening, I headed over to a flute lesson - the first one I've had in person since February. And we sat snugly in front of the wood burner, whiling away the evening discussing the pros and cons of moving away from this ill-governed country.
