Garden Escapee

I took a drive around nearby Deepcut Village for the first time today. It was build some years ago on the site of old Army barracks.  The adjacent Deepcut Barracks are currently under development as yet another new village (or at 1000+ houses, small town!).  At the far end some of the old army quarters have been refurbished and are now quite nice looking dwellings with access onto the path around the Deepcut Ranges, which I normally explore from home.

In rapidly deteriorating weather, I spotted this crocosmia growing in one of the fenced off wild areas. It's one of my favourite flowers, yet I have trouble growing it in my garden, but it seems quite happy here!
