Apple pressing

We took our apple crop to Tony and Heather, who have a great pressing set up.
The apples are chopped in a machine like a garden shredder, then into the press that Tony is demonstrating. In the centre is a columnar bladder which is pumped full of water, and gradual squeezes the pulp against the outer mesh. It’s delightful watching the juice come gushing out!
The pulp will go on the garden to compost, and we brought home 30 litres of juice! Some of this has been pasteurised so it will store, some we have frozen to drink fresh, and there is still another two gallons which may have to be turned into scrumpy....
In extra, I finished my Charley Harper birthday jigsaw, which was the hardest so far, having night time animals hiding everywhere!
