On alternate Wednesday afternoons we used to go out with The Bro-In-Law to the Carlisle garden centres. Today we went for a quiet, nearby one that we like.

It was raining when we got there so we had coffee then went for a wander round. Larch Cottage nurseries is very special in the way that, as a garden designer, the owner has mature plants making a backdrop for the potted ones on sale. The huge Pinus Wallichiana caught my eye.

I didn't come home empty-handed. I found a fern which I don't have in my collection.
