Sun over Eastgate

Today we explored the south side of Chester; walking the walls from Eastgate to Watergate (where accessible) and exploring around the racecourse and the canal lock.  We walked under the Eastgate Clock in the morning, but managed to catch it in the sunshine in the afternoon.

There should have been a full weekend of racing on the Roodee, but this was reduced to Sunday afternoon only.  We didn't try and go.  I thought it would be closed to the public; so I may have missed out on the chance to have a ride on the racing hippo (extra photo).
