It's there! Honestly!

This morning we went to Castle Espie for the bird watch walk - it's the first one I've done for ages because I usually go to Yoga on a Wednesday morning, but Yoga isn't happening at the moment and there's no sign of it restarting yet. This is the first bird watch walk since February due to lockdown and the continuing issues with Covid19.
And what a morning it was! It was absolutely tipping it down with rain first thing, and the few others who had booked a place cancelled, so there was just N. and I with Ross, the Reserve Warden who leads the walk. We were very lucky! The rain eased, then stopped and the sun came out. We saw a young bullfinch, hadn't seen a bullfinch before! Then we went to the Brent hide, the tide was perfect, we saw curlew, red shank, green shank, godwit, an egret, gulls aplenty, hundreds of Brent geese and a huge flock of Greylag geese flew overhead. Next we saw a very regal heron, before stopping at the saline lagoon where we spent a good 30 minutes watching a ..... Kingfisher!!!! I promise he is in the photo, you just need to have eagle eyes! If you look carefully, on top of the post is a blue speck, it's the Kingfisher, honest!!! What a fabulous morning! We definitely had the best of the day, it was tipping it down again after lunch :-)
