New Boss
Sultan has now been alone for several weeks after Rosie our Quarter Horse had to be put down. I think it's either illegal or at least very cruel to keep a horse alone without some form of companion (goats are often used). Horses are herd animals.
Angie has been looking around to find a companion but there are lots of problems with people getting rid of sick animals so quite difficult. She thinks she found one, a Welsh Section C Pony "Menai Lady Charmain" born 1996 at Menai Stud, Llandysul, Dyfed, Wales & brought to Germany the same year no doubt as a 6-month-old foal.
Here she has won loads of show prizes as a breed animal and although she has apparently been ridden, she seems to have been mainly used for breeding. The current owners are reducing their breeding stock and had her on offer for a token amount.
Angie drove the 100km or so to collect her. She seems a little "dead" in terms of relationships with humans & horses & a bit "mangey" around the tail & mane! Think Sultan now has a new boss & will have little to say around here.
For the first few hours, they were kept separate but allowed to make the initial approaches. She was not very interested!
