A quiet day at the base of a Scots Pine
The simple and tranquil life of a "cup lichen" named Cladonia digitata. Can you find the tiny red dots on the cup rims?
Spring has really arrived now - with lots of skylarks singing in the air.
Btw: The black dots on the pine needles are formed by another fungus: Lophodermium. If you once have seen them, you will notice that they are present on every fallen pine needle in the forest.
