One of my favourite gardens is  Monteviot with a variety of different distinctive gardens and its location beside the river Teviot. in the Borders.  It was a pleasure to wander around in the sunshine seeing the colourful flowers and shrubs and innumerable butterflies particularly on the Michaelmas daisies and watch the ripples in the river as little fish jumped in the clear water.   Unlike during a previous visit with very little sun the stone sundial was able to accurately indicate that it was a quarter past two. 
Later as we approached home there was an unusual set of contrails which I think were probably from fighter jets taking part in a multinational exercise over northern and eastern Scotland.
