DADDY LONG LEGS

MaryElizaR is hosting Tiny Tuesday and her theme is  ....  on the ground or down below.  She asked us to look down and see what tiny thing we could find.  So when I went into the back garden to put bird food out I started looking down.  And I found this daddy long legs floating  in a empty plant pot full of water.  Blip done.

Although the weather was sunny and dry today I didn't go anywhere.  I got on with some household chores - mainly washing and ironing.  I watched TV whilst I ironed.  A couple of episodes of D C I Banks which is being shown on ITV3.

19 years ago today my husband Douglas passed away.  He was 73 years old.  So I have been a widow for 19 years. A long time to be by myself.  We did have 19 years of married life together and I'm thankful that I have my two lovely children Becky and Neil who are always there if I need them.

In my Extras I have added some photos of Douglas.  The one where he is sitting on a bench was the last photo I ever took of him on 16th September 2001 - never thinking that 6 days later he would have a stroke and 7 days after that he would have passed away - it was so sudden. Douglas is sitting in the grounds of Newcastle University.  It was Great North Run Day and we had just watched Neil set off to run the half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields.  Neil was 17 and it was his first Great North Run ( he had taken part in a few Junior Great North Runs previously and now he was 17 he could step up to the main event ).

Around the time Douglas died there was a song played on the radio by The Calling which I came to love so this is my musical link for today. I actually bought 2 CD's by The Calling and I love all the songs - but this one still has a special meaning. I was surprised this afternoon when I was listening to the radio and this very song was played.  Its not a song which is on the radio often so it was quite a surprise to hear it today of all days.
