Tree trimming
During the recent wet weather, the guttering over the kitchen window has been ineffective, and the water has just been pouring down over the edge. So, after a damp start, once the weather cleared up in the afternoon, W climbed up onto the flat roof over the kitchen, cleared the guttering on the edge of the sloping roof, cleared the roof itself of all the debris, and cleared the guttering on the edge of the flat roof. It remains to be seen if that has been enough - I fear we may also have problems with the downpipes.
And he couldn't unfortunately identify where the water is coming in to our downstairs loo - that's a job for an expert, I fear.
Whilst he was up there, I suggested we should clear some of the branches that were overhanging the roof. They are branches from trees outside our fence, in the dog walking field, and they've grown quite a lot over the last few years. Some of them needed a bow saw to get through them. But it's increased the light level in that dingy corner of our curtilage, and in the kitchen.
They are now awaiting time, energy, and preferably some more of the (currently rather rare) dry weather, to cut them into smaller, more manageable pieces, before we take them to the tip. That needs to be done before 4th October, when W is due to read the meters and send off the readings!
We already have two large (cubic metre size) bags of clippings from other stuff we cut back at the same time.
