Again....
A fire started up Los Alamos Road from our house while we were eating dinner. We didn’t know anything about it until the evacuation warning came through. We decided to go to Dana’s when we could see flames at the top of the hill.Ten minutes after we got there the mandatory evacuation orders were issued. Wildfires in your area. Leave immediately.
This picture was taken from Dana’s driveway last night. The flames were coming over the hill behind our house. It took an hour and a half to drive about two blocks. The main highway was a parking lot with hundreds of fire trucks, sirens on going the opposite way back toward our street.
We are staying with friends for now. If we get evacuated from here we will probably go to our son Tim’s house in the Bay Area. Our house is right in the middle of an active fire zone and we have no way of knowing what is happening there. It’s an unsettling kind of limbo. We don’t want to be here but we don’t want to leave either.
Our neighbor sent us a picture of our house which is still standing. Spot fires and burning embers everywhere. Looks like the fire burned most of the landscaping right up to the driveway. We don’t want to take anything for granted though. Jim went to take a look but there are police barricades everywhere and he couldn’t get near either of our houses. The fires live on the vagaries of the wind which can change directions anytime....
