Graves in the Abbey

Located on the banks of Lough Allen in the townland of Curraghs, this was the site of an ancient abbey supposedly occupied by a community of Black Friars who originated from Kilronan Abbey just six miles away. In medieval times the first Tarmon St. Patrick's Church was built thereon. That church was suppressed with the introduction of penal laws, but the surrounding graveyard has continued in use ever since. Further Information
