Tenacity

It's that time of year when spiders seem to be everywhere.  This one is trying for about the 5th time to spin its web across an alleyway that runs around the other side of our house.  I have felt a certain amount fo guilt to have had to destroy his previous attempts because I needed to get passed.  On this occasion, if he is lucky, it might last a few days as we spend much less time in the garden now autumn has arrived.

Anyway, the sky has been clear of clouds for most for the day and so at about 4 pm the sun shines directly down the alleyway, illuminating his efforts to construct a new web.  It is quite fascinating to watch as he moves around the web framework clockwise, adding the fine thread to the lattice work of radial and concentric strands so far constructed.
