Bawley Bay Moorings
I popped out to Gravesend for some fresh air and a bit of shopping, and ended up on the riverside. It was cold, grey and windy, but the River Thames was at low tide, so I could get down onto the small beach and access the old mooring rings set into the wall.
Bawley Bay was named after the many shrimp boats which used to moor there in the 19th century. Bawley Bay was once the heart of Gravesend’s fishing community, and is next to St Andrew's Church and Mission House serving the community.
