Frazzled Friday

Week two of college and I was hoping it would be better this week. I got ready with a little bit of sunshine this morning which helped, but it's turned super-cold and very windy. Totally unprepared as usual, I stopped at the shop to grab some lunch for the day.

I passed K on the way and waved to him but he didn't see me. I had a better morning- I sit next to my friend L and we always have a good natter which is nice. But the downside to the day is having the windows open, which made it sooooo cold. By the end of the day all I could focus on was the temperature. Also, sitting for almost seven hours, even with breaks feels terrible, and my whole body ached. I'm not sure what the solution is. Despite being told we only had to wear masks when moving around the college, they wanted us to vote to wear them in class, and there were some yes's. I was confused, as I thought the whole idea was that we were in a bubble, therefore it was unnecessary. I'm happy to wear a mask for short periods, but I don't think I can wear one all day comfortably. It's as yet unresolved, but I am hoping that it will be that if people want to wear them then it's their choice, but equally to be able to choose not to.

I loved the content today but the teaching style of one of the tutors is just not my cup of tea, and she isn't very relaxed about offering space for people to speak, almost wanting us to put our hands up and wait to be asked.... then she only wants us to tell her 'one thing, right'. It's what I try not to do in my class.

We had a difficult first PD group, which has left me more in the dark than ever before about what its purpose is. One lady had a horrible admission to make, but it didn't shock me. I felt I had nothing of value to add, therefore I listened without comment.

I get twitchy near the end of the day where I just want to get away, so I rushed home just in time to see Looby-Doo. We had half an hour of play where I pretended I had "Gramma's Spider" and she hid behind the curtain giggling while I tickled her toes underneath. When I came in through the door, she ran to see me and gave me a bug hug, and then stroked my face :-)

Last year my tutor explained how particular clients make you suck up their stuff and stay with you, and I felt that this evening. I was glad to get out with mum to the woods in the howling wind but lovely sun, and we walked Little B for forty minutes, whereupon I felt I'd shifted gears and transitioned back to 'me' again. Last year I came home buzzing, high as a kite, this year I can't wait to shake it all off..

* As we entered the woods, in the distance we saw a lady with two large black dogs, walking slowly towards the road. We got a little way in and took Little B's lead off, and as we came close to them, mid-sentence to mum, I heard her say "oh, I've put my dogs on their leads and you've taken your's off". We kept walking and realised she was having a moan, carried on a little further, whereupon she turned around and said "selfish bitches!'. We were a bit stunned to be honest. Some people can be supremely rude, but we were pretty flummoxed as to what exactly we had done! I think we spoiled her walk with her dangerous dogs, but if they're that dangerous then they shouldn't be allowed out!

We were seething but I never confront people- I wasn't brought up to think that it's ok to yell obscenities to strangers!

Thank God it's Friday.
