Where The Body Meets The Land

Glasgow-based Iranian artist Iman Tajik brought his performance art piece to Portobello beach this weekend for this year's All at Sea Art Walk Porty. The piece, entitled 'Where the Body Meets The Land',  involved Iman spending four hours walking up and down the sand. As he paced from a flag pole, buried in the sand, hoisting up a shimmering gold emergency blanket, to the seashore and back he created a line in the sand. This act of line making refers to the thousands of refugees and migrants that have disembarked, including those that did not survive, onto UK shores. It was interesting too watching the way people interacted with the line, even when they presumably didn't know what it was all about (see extra).
