Old Well
Another backblip.
The day was fresh and sunny so I took myself off for walk along the lane down to the village and then back up across the farm. To get to the little church one has to walk through part of the manor garden (I think the church was once the chapel to the house in medieval times). At the end of the house is an ancient well partly obscuring a blocked window in the wall behind. In front there is some rough stone disappearing under the gravel. This is the original medieval path which runs up to the church and then down the drive into the village. A lot of it is now covered up, and certainly the section to the churchyard as it was beginning to undulate causing possible danger of tripping - it has been levelled off with sand within the last year.
The lanes were full of shiny conkers and brown and green acorns where the wind had blown them off the avenue of trees running along side.
Extra photos: Beautifully shaped tree; and the overflow maize silage clamp.
