Chuffed

We parked at Porthgwarra, just southeast of Land's End and walked along to Nanjizal beach which is miles from anywhere. The last time I went to Nanjizal I was about thirteen and the beaches were covered with thick black gunky oil from the Torrey Canyon oil tanker disaster. It was thought the beaches would never recover, but nature seems to have restored them to their previous state and they are once again pristinely beautiful.

The area is home to a few hundred pairs of breeding Cornish Choughs, distinguishable by their red beaks and legs. We were chuffed to see some today. LooseCanon caught one in flight, mine in the extra was feeding on the ground, scratching at something and calling to its mate between beakfuls.
I loved the minty fresh crashing waves on the rocks in the main photo and the slot cave at Nanjizal, extra extra.
