These beautiful cherubs sit proudly on the mantel piece.

This bronze sculpture, by Borghese, is apparently a very small version of the faces that once appeared on an inside wall in the Thorndike Theatre in Leatherhead in the 1980's.

Actress Dame Sybil Thorndike and her husband, Sir Lewis Casson financially supported the theatre for many years and in 1969 this, now Grade II listed building, was up and running. People have commented that the Thorndike's open walkways were an influence on the later designs for the Royal National Theatre. However in 1997 the Thorndike family ran out of money and the foyers fell silent for 4 years.

In April 2001 an ambitious and extensive refurbishment started and in 2005 re-opened and is still greatly appreciated by our local community.
