Fairburn Ings
An autumnal day but a very enjoyable walk with Jon in mixed weather. Fairburn Ings is an RSPB bird reserve on the site of old coal mine workings. There were not that many birds around today - too early for the autumn migrating birds, but we did see two spoonbills on the edge of one of the meres. Shortly after I took this view we had a torrential rain and hail storm, which soon passed for bright sunshine. Collected my soprano saxophone from the shop in Leeds on the way home. It now looks very bright and shiny and I am assured by Dave that all the problems are now fixed.
