Bridge of Remembrance

Our day started with a blipmeet with Gingernan and pcc. It was great to meet both of them.

Today is our last day in New Zealand and it is our walk around Christchurch day. It is a truly beautiful city and even though there is much earthquake damage in the centre that is still to be repaired, we found many delightful places to visit. And, as always in New Zealand, we wished we had more time here.

The Bridge of Remembrance is one of two main war memorials in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is dedicated to those who died in World War I, and serves as a memorial for those who participated in two World Wars as well as subsequent conflicts in Borneo, Korea, Malaya, and Vietnam. Owned by Christchurch City Council, it is located on the Cashel Street Bridge at the head of City Mall.

It was significantly damaged in the recent earthquakes, but will definitely be saved and restored.

Bigger Bridge

I particularly wanted to visit Scott's Last Expedition Exhibition at the Christchurch Museum. It was brilliantly done and really is a must see for anyone who is interested in history, science and the Antarctic.
