Nature Diary... A Pallet of Colour

A Pallet of Colour... Dive right in :-)

How stunningly beautiful my recently created border has turned out to be. At the beginning of July it was merely part of my lawn and then, as self-isolating drew to a close, my eldest son visited and spent the weekend digging up the edge of the lawn in order to create for me a flower border. On the way he shopped in Haskins and filled his car boot with all the plants he thought I might like. In addition to digging a border he created two rockeries for me and filled them with alpine plants.

Gradually all the plants took root and began to flourish. The magnificent display gradually grew and grew, and finally filled out so well that not a square inch of soil could be seen between each happy, healthy plant. And still, given the blessing of an extraordinarily warm Indian Summer with sunshine and blue sky and gentle caressing breezes, the plants continue to flourish.

Like a statement to the world of worry and fear and the nightmare of an ugly pandemic, an inner voice spoke saying “You never imagined this when you watched the dramatic the press reports day after day, did you. Well think again next time. And don’t forget, miracles happen. Now, what will you plant to see you through the winter? How about some sweet little Violas and some colourful Cyclamen?”

And I said to myself “That sounds like an excellent idea. They survive the winter, don’t they. Yes. And during those dark, gloomy winter days maybe I’ll plan what to plant in my border next spring. That will be something to look forward to. That’s a good idea. I’ll do that”.

My apologies for my brief absence. End of summer garden chores to attend to before the weather produces some unwanted surprises.I'll be back to normal asap.
Many thanks to everyone for your visits, for your comments, and for all the stars and hearts for my photos. They're all very much appreciated x
