Parish Chest of Ladykirk Church

The parish chest of Ladykirk Church, Borders, Scotland is in remarkably good condition considering it was carved in 1651.  The rest of the writing on this side of the chest is verbatim as follows:

EDWARD WILLIAMSON'S Guift To Ye Truly Poore AND Aged of Ys. Psh.

MY TRUST IS IN GOD ALONE [for some reason the 'Ns' are the wrong way round in this sentence.]


I WAS HUNGRIE AND YE GAVE ME MEAT
I WAS THIRSTIE AND YE GAVE ME DRINKE
A STRANGER AND YE TOOKE ME IN
NAKED AND YE CLOTHED ME
I WAS SICKE AND YE VISITED ME
