Mono Monday - Old and New
On the left is an old GPO (General Post Office) type 746 telephone. This was the GPO's main rental telephone in the 1970s.
Skip forward half a century, and on the right we have my current smartphone. The two are worlds apart in technology.
I remember having one of the old grey GPO phones in our house as a child. It was located in the hall at the bottom of the stairs (very typical in those days) and was permanently wired in so couldn't be moved.
This one was in a house I moved into in 1986. It hasn't been used for years, but I decided not to throw it out. Today there are people who collect them.
