New reality day 53
Today we took the dogs for a short drive (5km from the house) and visited Lake Sylvöjärvi. It means flood lake. I wouldn't know if they didn't explain it in the informational signs. Sylvö must be some kind of local dialect and an old word that is no longer in use, because now we use word 'tulva'.
It was a nice area with a bird watching tower and beach with changing rooms and different kinds of woods. This is from the area called Moss Bridge Swamp in English. It was a very damp and wetty swamp and there was a boardwalk to walk around the area. Very nicely done. This is from the birch wood.
I learned today (reading internet) that our area (Nastola) has 7 lakes and that's not counting the Turranlampi pond. The lakes are called
Salajärvi = Hidden lake, Secret lake
Kymijärvi = Kymi lake
Ruuhijärvi = boat lake, canoe lake
Oksjärvi = branch lake
Iso-Kukkanen = Big flowery (sounds like an "Indian name")
Sylvöjärvi = Flood lake
Kivijärvi = Stone lake
