Big Feet
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,
These are pukeko. They are NZ wading birds with huge feet, and Caro is very fond of them. I've never seen them out and about before, so this was very exciting.
This was on my way to taking Ronaldo Rat out for a walk. The poor little guy was a bit subdued after a night in the cells, but he seemed pleased when I eventually tipped him out next to a field of cows.
I am under no illusions that this is the end of the matter. But the blokes Caro has called in should resolve the issue for us. And for now, the day is quiet, the birds are singing, Jasper and Punky are having their mid-afternoon naps and I'm happy.
I just like peace, peace and quiet. The soft hum of a distant aeroplane, the rustle of wings in our tree. For me, this is what weekends are all about now.
Tell 1990's me that and I suspect he would call me an old bastard. But he can shut the eff up. And get a haircut.
