2020 Wednesday — Road Trip
We exited our SoCal home at 9:30ish, certainly not early, but we do not like to drive in the LA morning traffic, so we knew not to leave our place before 8:00. Commuter traffic into Los Angeles can often times be quite horrific, but leaving later helps to alleviate that.
We stopped in Summerland, just south of Santa Barbara to mail a birthday card to our granddaughter Ashly. Saturday is her birthday.
After traveling through a dozen-plus cities and past the vineyards and farmlands north of Los Angeles and really north of Santa Barbara, we arrived in Cayucos at 2:00. We made several stops — that’s mandatory for us and for the two pups in our vehicle; our driving time was 3 hours and 45 minutes; almost a record-breaker for short. Some people must still be working from home and that decreases the traffic.
We were glad to be driving away from the SoCal heat. We found a layer of wildfire ash all over our coast property when we arrived. So once we got our things out of the car and into the house, we hosed the back yard to rid it of ash so the pups are not hauling it into the house on their toes and in their coats.
We settled in then for a relaxing evening and I put store-bought frozen pot pies in the oven for our evening meal.
