a walk on the towpath

another dazzling day so we ventured to Middleton Lakes RSPB, a new one on us. Not many birds around but a lovely walk around the lakes and over the canal bridge. Unfortunately the hide was closed.
We then took a short drive to the Fig and Olive for lunch, which had been recommended. It was exceptional, a bit pricey but you don't mind when the food and service are so good. It is in a sort of country agriculture complex which also provided a chance to mooch around the garden centre, shop and farm shop, they are called Coppice and Forage and are described as lifestyle, butchery, bakery and deli experiences to match the prices. Very nice though.
