Feeding the feral cats

The village has a large cat population. Many of these are feral. There is divided opinion as to whether they should be fed or not. The village did have a cat sanctuary but the lady has moved. There is still a team of volunteers who feed the cats around the village and this man, explaining how it works, is one of them. He told me this particular cat is 17 years old, has been looked after all its life, but never has belonged to anyone or had a home - a pampered feral cat then.
