Bird Brain

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

The attempt to capture Ronaldo Rat before the exterminators arrive on Monday continued today.

I set the trap and went into a Zoom meeting. And when I came out, one hour later, the trap had been successfully sprung!

By an embarrassed-looking blackbird.

Caro ddn't want to go near him (to her defence, he DID look really annoyed). So I let him out and reset the trap with chocolate. But no luck. Ronaldo tends to be out and about between 9 and 10 in the morning so I think it was too late for him.

I'll give it another shot tomorrow. But hey, if any of you have a blackbird problem, I'm your man.

RONALDO UPDATE:
Ronaldo has been apprehended! He is no longer at large! I put the trap out again, this time with a bit of Kit-Kat on the treadle. This was on the theory that blackbirds do not like Kit-Kat.

Within 5 minutes, I was having to shoo blackbirds away from the Kit-Kat. Bloody hell.

Anyway, so I moved it away from the garden and closer to the fence and then it was ignored until about 5:30pm. Then we noticed both the lads were TRANSFIXED by something outside.

It was Ronaldo, who had been unable to resist a nice wafer covered in milk chocolate. This was his undoing.

But it is too late to do the catch & release thing. So I've plopped him in the garage for now. I'll relocate him tomorrow morning.
