Operation Kingfisher.....

I always keep an eye out for sightings via local sources that the kingfishers are out and about locally and there's been a fair few at Shoebury recently, so we headed to the seaside for a little wander as the weather was so nice! And success!!  Managed to see 2 of them flying  - extremely fast! - along some of the little brooks so we were chuffed! Not seen them in the wild before! Next operation is to be there when they're settled and posing for a photo to be taking lol!!  The local ranger has put in extra 'branches' for them to sit on but they obviously had more important flying tasks to do today!

It was our first time at Shoebury since March so it was just lovely to feel normal again and see the mute swans who have a lovely little family growing well! Lots of ducklings about too and loads of rooks/crows/ravens - I still don't know which they were! -  and lovely to see the sea close up too! We will be going back very soon I'm sure!
